Microsoft has been more aggressive than ever for a while now with regard to advertising / pushing the envelope in Windows, but this message I just got on my Win11 (23H2) Home lock screen takes the cake:

ms storage limit.png

Bear in mind that I'm not logged in with a Microsoft account, nor is there any MS account linkage on my computer including OneDrive (no accounts listed in Settings > Accounts > Email and accounts), so this message is straight-up scammy.

I'll click on the link next and see where it takes me. - edit - after login, it fires up an Edge window asking me to sign in to an MS account so I won't go any further than that.

- edit 2 - There's an extra notification in the top-left corner of the screen that says this on mouseover:

ms storage limit 1.png

The first notifcation says this on mouseover:

ms storage limit 2.png

Uninstall Edge and Copilot!

I mean it won't make the ads go away but it feels good!

You could always disable the lock screen. I've never had any need for it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization]
"NoLockScreen"=dword:00000001
