im trying to match one list against another in access but it keeps telling me this:

the wizard is unable to open your query in datasheet mode, possibly because another user has a source table open in exclusive mode. your query will be opened in design view.

i just rebooted & got started on this quickly to minimize other things getting in the way & it still won't work. ive done this type of query before, import 2 tables, edit relationships & make query. dunno why its not working now. anyone have any clues?

Is the data in the tables coming from the same place? If so are you sure you did an import and not just a link? Also instead of importing try copying and pasting the data into an empy table.

the data are coming from 2 seperate spreadsheets. the first one is from a spreadsheet ive always used before to run queries against. the second one is a new one, but ive run a query against a different list. it just wont run against the first list. i tried copying the data & pasting into a table & i also tried pasting onto a new spreadsheet. i dont know what i could be doing wrong. i re run my previous queries that worked & they still work. i think its something wrong with my data from the second list. any other suggestions?
