Microsoft Access Problem

I have created a database, and all the table relationships are done. I now wish to enter data via a form. This is ok untill i try and make it a bit more complicated.
The situation is i have some data that i need to enter which is linked to another table. I can enter the data in from the drop down menu that appears in the box relating to that field, however this data, being a number is of little use, since i am unaware of the field it relates to. I there fore have written a query that displays the data i need to know about the field when i click on the drop down arrow key. Instead of giving me a list of numbers. it gives me a list of numbers with the data related to it.
This allows me to see the field i want but now that this query is introduced i can not enter data in to the form and it doesnt work. ( i have thought about running the query in a seperate form and updating the input from from this other form, however i would prefer if the whole thing could be done on one form.....
I hope that my words are understadable 😛
hope someone can help me out
thanks
alex
