First off, yes this is homework. Secondly, no, I don't want you to do it for me. That said I'd really appreciate your help.

I need to build a database in access around a business of my choice. I have decided to build it around a tennis country club that offers lessons, tournaments, and has a pro-shop to sell rackets and the like.

I need to be able to set up my database so that I can ask queries and print off forms reports etc... My problem is I have no idea how to set something like this up.

I know I need a Members table with a memberid and contact info and such. I also know that I need a tournament table with tournament name, date(s), etc... What I don't understand is how to relate these tables so that one member can enter multiple tournaments. The teacher has been saying something about a transactional table but has no idea of how to explain it to the class in any form that we can understand.

Say if a member, Billy for example, wanted to enter two tournaments: TurkeyShoot and ChristmasBlast. How would I relate my tables so that he could enter the both of these?

Would I need to relate memberid to something like applicantid? If so, what table would applicant id fall under? Tournament Applications? Tournament Detail?

I'm probably too confused to even post this in an understandable manner, but I bet the solution is really simple and I just haven't been able to make the connection.

Thanks for your help, I know this post is a jumbled mess.

You will need to define a third table that link membership to activities

Both the member should be a unique number and the activity a unique number.

Any more help - head over to the S/W forum.
