So I am on the verge of buying a Samsung GS5, and was waiting to see what MOT had to offer. I have three higher level requirements
1) Battery life I want to get through a full day using my phone without recharging.
2) Battery life epectancy. I still use a Samsung GS2 and have replaced the battery because it started to swell and fail. I want at least an easy to service battery.
3) significant storage and app space
I develop mobile applications and often have to stock competitive applications on my phone.
It appears that Samsung has bloated their core software that they're leaving marginal space on their device for apps and media, but it's OK because they allow Micro SD card access and I can offload all of my music and video to that card.
I was considering the HTC or new MotoX.
HTCs battery replacement looks like a mess. Moto's at least for the last generation was reasonably servicable, even though you have to use a bit of a toolset to replace the battery.
Unfortunately, Moto did not include MicroSD card support in their phones this time around, so if I want to extend the storage, I'm left with a personal HD and WIFI.
- Are people using external HDs as integral parts of their handset/tablet lives?
- Are there any limitations of accessing media on a "remote" storage device?
- How extensively can people load their phones with apps, particularly given the new constraints of KitKat?
Thanks,
Marc
