I have been using the same mic for skype on my laptop, and I would like to use it in my Asus Maximus Formula, but it's totally mute. I set every setting even microphone booster, but no go. The mic is good, it works fine in my laptop. Do you know a way to diagnose if it's a driver or hardware problem?

I tried both front and back panel. Running XP 64-bit. Wireing is right, there is an auto sensing utility.

Check in ASUS forums... did u do a BIOS update? there are so many horror stories about the new BIOS revisions... I myself planning to get a MAximus formula but these horror stories on the ASUS forums are unsettling me...
Full system spec along with BIOS version could help....

Also, try downloading the latest drivers for Supreme FX II card on the ASUS website... please give the BIOS version u have....

I have the latest BIOS, and the latest driver, but I think maybe it's a driver issue. It's 64bit... Maybe I install a 32 bit XP or a livecd linux, just to test it.

There is a bug with the latest driver for the Audio card in that mobo, I cant seem to find the link for that topic in the forum... but it seems to occur with 64bit and sometimes with 32bit too... also, due to that bug, there is some stuttering in the mid frequency ranges of the rear channel speakers... Asus are "working overtime" to find a solution i guess :D... jus wait for the next set of drivers...
I'll try to get that link for you, try posting this question on the ASUS forums too....

Thank your for your reply. Maybe the best is still to get some Knoppix livecd to try if it's working, linux guys always write proper drivers for themselves.

On the Asus forums I have found a WHQL driver for Vista, but it has XP64 drivers inside and NOW it works. The driver on Asus website does NOT work under XP64.

Could you send us a link for the drivers?
