Microphone outputting sound to speakers.

Out with the old, in with the new.

We get this headset, and once we plug it in - we hear our voices coming out of our speakers. It sounds like a loud speaker talking to a large crowd. We have Vista and an Xfi-Elite Pro sound card, and here are the things we have tried:

Also, clicking the speaker icon on vista shows no microphone options, and unlike vista - you cannot simply create one and tinker with it.

It's interesting that our USB microphone (the old one) did not have this problem. Any suggestions appreciated. We just installed the new drivers from Creatives website for the Xfi-Elite pro and just understand why this is happening. Thanks.

I'm not sure if you have the same control panel as I do on my x-fi xtrememusic, but you should have a setting to mute the mic there. I got this problem too, and I had to mute it in the x-fi control panel before it went away.
