New build, Gigabyte EP45-UD3R MB, comes with realtec HD audio software. I can't seem to get my Mic to work from the rear panel or front panel jacks. I've DLed the updated drivers.
Havent flashed my bios.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you using the right input? i've had experiences with that realtek crap where the jack marked with a mic symbol was in fact not the mic jack- you had to use a different one (line in) to make it work.

i'm guessing you've tried unmuting the mic and line-in in the volume controls?

On my gigabyte mobo I have to insert the mic plug into the jack with some serious force. Sometimes even twisting it a hair to make good contact. Not sure if that's your issue since you are trying two different ports.

The Realtec system on my ASUS mobo insists you tell it what's going on every time you plug something in. So you plug the mic into the port, and a window pops up requesting a specification of what you just plugged in. If you don't give it an answer, it will not turn the port on to use for anything. When you unplug, start back at the beginning - it does not remember what was plugged in last and use the old setting without confirmation.
