But if I go to me Master volume and turn up the microphone part then i hear myself talk but cant get it to work anywhere else, I also put FPINK up and so on, I normally used to have FPINK and microphone all the way down. LOL yes im pretty new to the comp stuff so all help is appreciated. TY O and also one other ques. I have a 5.1 surround system Z-5500 and cannot get any speaker but center to wrk in CS:S even if i go to 5.1 settings and all, ne ideas>?

On the mic. try going into Volume controls.

Options > Properties
make sure microphone is checked. Then make sure your microphone mute is checked.
Options > Advanced Controls
Then click on the microphone advanced tab, then check the +20dB mic gain.

Then try talking see if someone can hear

What sound card do you have and how do you have it hooked up to the Z-5500's?

wont let me go into advanced option, like its grey not black and the microphone box did already have a check in it. As for sound card its an onboard on an asus mobo, realtek is the program. I plan on gettin a creative X-fi Platinum in the near future though.

you didn't answer the second part of my question...how are the speakers connected to the onboard audio?
