Micron RAM = Crap?

Hi,

i am pretty disappointed with what i get from my 2 128MB Micron CL2 DIMMs. Although being praised all over the net, I cannot get them above 135MHz (CL2 all bios gimmicks enabled). What is wrong?

Are they Crucial DIMMs or other? Which board/CPU are you using?

There are many other factors besides memory which affect the FSB speed...

Well,

no Crucials, but same parts and many have oced Microns to 140+ (PCPro review)

Asus A7V133 (1002a and 1003 bios)

TBird 1000 when ocing memory at around 900 - 1000 MHz

open case when testing so heat should be no issue

When ocing memory I try not to stress any other parts like CPU

Hmmm, my Crucial/Micron CL2 Pc133 does 150+ CAS2 on and MSI KT7 Pro2a. Order from crucial... fast and cheap... like i like my women! (just joking!). peace out.

Same here, My crucial Micron is running mighty fine at 140Mhz 2-2-2 might go higher later 😉
I have the same Mobo as well Asus A7v133

dude, i've got a stick of crucial/micron pc133 cas 2 and it is wonderful stuff. cranked it up to 143 at cas2 and it runs well. with fsbs that high, the chipset is going to fail and overheat befor that memory cracks (is my gut feeling). should go to arctic silver with a blueorb and test my hypothesis.

BIOS 1004 seems to allow many users to tweak their memory higher and faster. Give that a try if nothing else works.

Sorry guys, just figured out, that the chipset won't go higher than 135MHz, 113FSB/150Ram runs stable as a rock ;-)). Thanks anyway...

i have some microQ = micron OEM dimms that ake 145 cas2, and my friend who retails sometimes has micron OEM's that do 150 cas2... hm...

I got a stick made my powmem - Micron 7.5ns. PC133. I have issues with
this ram where it would lock up in a few minutes after starting. I lost
my receipt and don't know where to return it. Anybody knows if this
Powmem co. warranties this stuff?? TIA!

Hey Silicon, how did you test that ram to go to 160 if your processor can't handle it? It's not that I don't believe you, I'm actually curious is all..
I got some micron here too.. baught it the other day, it is garaunteed to work at 142 cas 2, but it didn't even do 133 cas 2.. my old stick of micron does.. but I'm afraid that my A7V won't go over 105 fsb without doing wierd things.. I think I could get the ram going faster.. I think the older via 133 (non a) chipset is the bottleneck.. whatever.. this ram is going back.. full refund they said..
