The sets are a little different even though they both came sealed as crucial ram, in CPU-Z one set says micron, 1 sets says crucial.

What i really want to know is how i tell if they are D9?

I am running all 8gb in My IP35-E right now at stock speed ddr2 800mhz.

the chips on 1 set say 8RE17
D9HNP

and the other set says 8UE17
D9HNP

there both label micron chips.

should I be overclocking these to 1066MHZ ???

I want to keep useing all 8GB so that will probably limit me a bit???

The chip labels tell the whole story...

Now, they may not hit DDR2-1066 but somewhere between 900-1000 should be doable, especially with loose timings and a voltage bump.

Of course -- why do you want faster speeds? Today's processors (AMD and Intel both) don't benefit much at all from faster memory. The only reason to push memory speeds is if you need to run your fsb higher for CPU overclocking.

Correct not the GMH & GXK.
However, most Ballistix are rated at 2.0v and overvolting them is a sure way to RMA.

His stuff is not the Fabled D9's - not possible at that density - I'm very doubtful you'll be able to overclock to 1066 with 8gb on your board also - its not an easy thing to do

if you can run 800mhz be greatful - if you can get higher all the better

if you want to check OC ability of the memory to it 2 sticks at a time - most boards don't like 4 stick clocking

*edit*

don't worry about overvolting effecting the RMA with Crucial - they have a pretty good don't ask don't tell warranty - its lifetime and they are one of the best about it IMO

I've burned out at least a half dozen kits of theirs and I don't think they ever really asked what happened - I just told them it doesn't work any more and I get memtest errors
