Blatently ripped from dailyradar.com...
Microsoft and Micron Technology today announced the signing of a six-year agreement in which Micron will supply a majority of the DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM used in Microsoft's Xbox. The 64MB of system memory for the Xbox will be comprised of 200MHz 2 Meg X 32 DDR SDRAMs with a peak data rate of 400 Megabits per second per pin, delivering 6.4GB per second of bandwidth. click for more

Xbox vs PS2? DDR vs RDRAM? Does this mean higher or cheaper prices in for DDR since Microsoft will need A LOT next year.

It depends. Remember the Xbox won't be out until very late next year. That means we'll have a years worth of DDR action all to ourselves.:)

BTW, as long as supply keeps up with the demand, prices shouldn't fluctuate much.

We don't know this. The average user doesn't know Microsoft is making a console. For all we know, the Xbox can/will flop.

Congrats to the Micron, nonetheless.
