Micron 256MB PC133 CAS-3 SDRAM for $87

Just got mine this AM. CtSPD checks out fine. I'm running it at CAS2 on a 100mhz fsb. I've read that it will run at CAS2 on a 133mhz fsb.

Even with the 5% performance hit that Asus p5a takes, this was well worth the upgrade. I can always use more RAM for Audio editing.

btw, I got it for $86, not $87.

I DO NOT recommend to anyone to buy this RAM as the PCB is generic. Spend $20 extra and get the high-quality stuff! Read Infineon or Crucial.

Infineon also means generic.
Infineon just makes the chip.
A good Infineon means it's sitting in Kingston valueram, Mushkin, Apacer, etc such name.

I bought one of these online, then cancelled the next day by email and by phone. Last night I received an email with a tracking number because they shipped it anyway! Once I get this straightened out, you can be sure I won't be ordering there again.

I just received the memory the chips are micron on a generic pcb but the stick is damaged.
there is a small chip that is broken off in the bag.I called and had to leave a message on a answering machine. will keep you posted.I got to say this is the last time i buy from a
unknown retailer

I rma the memory back to those assholes and they are saying I damaged the memory and want me to provide proof that the memory was shipped damaged in the box (WTF)So the bottom line is they will not replace It.It's off to the reseller ratings and my CC company

I don't think it's easy to crush a pcb.
Or they didn't pack it well?
Crucial packs the memory pretty well.

Crucial is a excellant company to deal with both in product and service. Z-buy.com is just a small crappy New York city computer store that will not stand behind what they sell.

I just got my 256MB stick from Z-Buy yesterday and plugged it in today. It's working fine at 2-2-2 on my BX6v2 @ 100MHz. The chips are definitely Micron (MT prefix -- I didn't bother to write down the whole chip ID), and the PCB is generic. (BTW: My old stick of 128MB PC100 was also MT chips on a generic PCB, and it's been like a rock for 2 years at 2-2-2 -- it was $169+S&H new -- yow!)

I have no complaints, except minor: Z-Buy didn't respond to my email asking for a tracking#, but I did receive one from FedEx when it was shipped. The stick was _extremely_ well packaged in a large box full of styro peanuts.

I would deal with Z-buy again if they have a good price. However, now that Crucial PC133 CAS2 has come down (see other threads), that's a clear choice for memory!
