Mine are still running Win8.1 w/Bing, original factory specs, never updated. (Because updates clog up the eMMC, leading to "no boot" scenarios, which brick the device.)
Anyways, I think someone deposited some ME firmware trojans onto them. I noticed tonight, that on boot or shutdown, the blue light near the front camera turns on briefly, like it's taking a picture or video.
Also, one of them, I powered up, went to the Desktop, just in time for an additional desktop icon to disappear. Might have been the trojan, deposited to the Desktop, installing itself and then hiding.
I've already got one laptop with a similar ME trojan, it boots really slow, because it takes a video every time it's booted up, and installs the Lojack for Laptops components. (Which itself is just an NSA trojan.)
Also, my Android phone, has rebooted at 1am, and mysteriously when it booted back up, the "Location" icon (GPS) was active. I never use that feature.
Also, it seems like my internet bandwidth has been suffering lately, unsure why. I also can't log into my router. I think I forgot my password, but it's possible that it was hacked and changed on me too. (That happened once before.)
Also, one of my Windows 10 PCs was compromised a few months ago.
I've updated the firmware on all of my NAS units, and re-formatted my PCs, and re-flashed the firmware on my router, but I'm still leery that someone is on my network.
Edit: I run Skype for Windows in the background, on nearly all of my PCs, laptops, and tablets. Unfortunately, Skype has a built-in copy of Flash Player, and we all know how poor for security Flash Player is. They use it for the advertisements in Skype, that they so rudely added a while ago.
I don't run the Flash Player NPAPI Plugin in Waterfox or Firefox, and I don't use IE at all.
Sadly, though, Firefox and derivatives have had some pretty serious holes lately. So things could have gotten in that way too, although Flash Player exploits seem more likely.
Least likely, but still possible, would be "black bag" jobs at my apt. They could probably pull some off if they knew what systems they were looking for.
Anyways, can someone else with a TW700 tablet, tell me if their tablet, flashes the camera light upon bootup and shuitdown? Because I'm a fan of blinkinlights, and I really don't remember the blue light next to the camera turning on before tonight.
