I received a coupon for 20% off all PC cases at Microcenter in an e-mail that needs to be printed out and taken into the store for redemption. So, I decided to browse their online store to see what they had. To my surprise, they had a single Corsair 800D marked from $279.99 down to $149.99 online. I had no intention of paying $150 for a case but for that case I jumped and added it to my cart before thinking. After tax it's about $162. I printed out my receipt last night and about 10 minutes later got the confirmation e-mail that it's ready to be picked up but in the confirmation e-mail it's showing the full price at near $300 with tax.
I just called Microcenter and they weren't aware of the sale and that it was probably a short-lived error but said they would honor the price as long as I printed it out. I told them it was drastic at $130 off and they said no problem.
I currently have a P180 case and am about to build a new computer that I already have the parts for. A Biostar full ATX P67 board, an i5-2500k, Corsair H50 cooler, 2x4 GB DDR3, single 6850 1GB and a single 96GB SSD. No platter drives. As you can see, this will be a very basic system that in no way needs a case the size of the 800D or the cooling that it can provide. I'm sitting here trying to justify if I need it or not and can't make up my mind. A case like this probably never needs replaced and will last 10+ years. At that, I'm only in $16/year. It's freaking huge. The plus is if I ever decide to build a killer gaming rig with dual video cards this thing will do the job just fine.
So what would you guys do? If I get this I'll have to get rid of my P180 or maybe use it to build a second rig for 2 person gaming at my house. Decisions!
