Microcenter pricing error - do I take it?

I received a coupon for 20% off all PC cases at Microcenter in an e-mail that needs to be printed out and taken into the store for redemption. So, I decided to browse their online store to see what they had. To my surprise, they had a single Corsair 800D marked from $279.99 down to $149.99 online. I had no intention of paying $150 for a case but for that case I jumped and added it to my cart before thinking. After tax it's about $162. I printed out my receipt last night and about 10 minutes later got the confirmation e-mail that it's ready to be picked up but in the confirmation e-mail it's showing the full price at near $300 with tax.

I just called Microcenter and they weren't aware of the sale and that it was probably a short-lived error but said they would honor the price as long as I printed it out. I told them it was drastic at $130 off and they said no problem.

I currently have a P180 case and am about to build a new computer that I already have the parts for. A Biostar full ATX P67 board, an i5-2500k, Corsair H50 cooler, 2x4 GB DDR3, single 6850 1GB and a single 96GB SSD. No platter drives. As you can see, this will be a very basic system that in no way needs a case the size of the 800D or the cooling that it can provide. I'm sitting here trying to justify if I need it or not and can't make up my mind. A case like this probably never needs replaced and will last 10+ years. At that, I'm only in $16/year. It's freaking huge. The plus is if I ever decide to build a killer gaming rig with dual video cards this thing will do the job just fine.

So what would you guys do? If I get this I'll have to get rid of my P180 or maybe use it to build a second rig for 2 person gaming at my house. Decisions!

You guys are going to KILL ME! So, my printer is out of ink so I PDF'd the 20% off case coupon and my receipt showing the case for $150. I wanted to pick up a 1/2 price mini itx case they have for $30 and was going to use the coupon on that, as the coupon states it must be used on in-store purchases only and since the 800D was online I wasn't even going to try and press my luck. I get to customer service, explain what happened and give the guy my thumb drive to see my receipt in PDF form. He calls a manager over and the manager says no problem. Then, they see the other PDF with the 20% off and the manager says no problem and drops the price down to $120! I just paid $120 for a brand new 800D. I felt terrible :)

Ship it to me, and I'll feel terrible for you (I'd pay you for the case and shipping obviously :p)

Since Microcenter is being honest, i'd give'em a break and pay full price for it. As a matter of fact, i will price match it if they can find another retail store that sells it for 259.99 or more.

Perhaps you could donate some of the money you "should" have spent on the case to a charity of your choosing. That might make you feel better about it, and help out a (hopefully) worthy cause in the process.

Since 2005 I talked my family into donating money to charity instead of spending money on each other for Christmas. It took some convincing but everyone agreed and now that we've been doing it for a few years everyone loves the idea. We're all adults so it seemed crazy to buy stuff for each other when we know if we need/want something we can just get it ourselves. I typically donate ~ $500/year to St. Jude's Children's hospital. Hopefully I'll be able to double that this year depending on how the finances look.

Have you ever considered donating to the Human Fund?

I looked at that case when I picked up my 2500K combo. I just wanted to see what all the hype about it was and didn't care for it as I thought it was overpriced....But at the price you paid for it I woulda snapped it up forsure :D
