Just received another email from MicroCenter:

Beginning March 3rd, we will start to receive inventory from several manufacturers for the next 2-3 weeks. Inventory however will be limited until early April. We wanted you to be one of the first to know.

There are several options open to you. So that we may better serve you, please complete a very short questionnaire concerning which options you prefer. After completing the questionnaire you will be taken to a page with further details. See your local Micro Center store with questions.

Thank you for your business and your patience through this extremely rare situation.

Please click the link below to be taken to the questionnaire.

One of the options in the questionnaire was to wait until either April 15 or May 15 for a replacement in exchange for a $25 gift certificate. Sounded like they were just gauging interest rather than making any promises. So far, I'm impressed at the way they're handling this. Would be nice if Intel contributed something for the inconvenience - not particularly looking forward to having to rebuild everything.

Good news, i had unresolvable problems with my i5 2500K+P8P67 so i early last month returned them both. Hopefully they will have a similar combo deal when they arrive or will have to ask em and see if i can get the deal i jumped on in january if they dont bring it back.

Last I checked, they had increased the 2500k price by $20, but that may change once the motherboards are here.

I just filled out their questionnaire and said I would wait until April 15 and get a gift card for an added bonus. Besides, I am going on Vacation on the 5th and then when I return, I have surgery so, I have to wait. 🙂

Conventional wisdom dictates that I should reinstall my OS if I jump from a P67 to a Z68, right?

If so, I'll probably just replace my P67 with an identical unit.

If microcenter gives a $25 gift certificate, it might be worth it to wait for the z68 boards, and use the gift certificate to cover any price increase in the z68s.

Nope.

I was able to upgrade from P55 to P67 without reinstalling Win7. I highly doubt you will need to going from P67 to Z68.

Hard to say. I noticed a lot of little ticks I didn't like going from X58 to P67.

If you have win7 probable not.

I went from a 965 (DDR2) to a P43 (DDR3) board and just let windows update the drivers.
