Not cheap, but cheaper than Mwave. They were listed before, but now you can drop by the store and pick one up.

They've had them for a while. Their price and their horrible reseller ratings has kept me from ordering. If somebody says they are actually shipping I might think twice though.

I don't understand what it is that you guys have against OEM chips. You automatically void your warranty the second you overclock. Yeah, the first time you overclock, and only for a few hundred Mhz, no more warranty. Plus, the heatsink isn't worth anything, especially if you want to overclock.

Now, if know you won't be overclocking, even though nobody's going to leave you alone if you don't, that's when you should pay $10-20 more for a retail chip, whatever month those come in.

Prices have been lowered. $20 price drop! They are $359.99 instead of $379.99 for E6600. I am going to buy one in the store and if they lower anymore in the next thirty days I will take my reciept in and get the lower price.

Are they even in stock? Or are they like all the other places where 'Usually ships in 1-3 days' means 'Sorry, we have none in stock, but will send you it when we can!' Cuz if they are in stock... I might as well order one.

Yes i live near one(Philadelphia) and on Sunday they had 5 today they had 2 left of the oem E6600

Yeah I ordered one, don't really care if it's OEM as long as its not damaged during shipping. Meh only 20 bucks more than some places, but atleast I got one and don't have to wait till September to finish my system.

I got mine locally and they had 5 in stock. 4 now...

It seems like most stores got 5 in and I am not sure how their online orders work. If they come from the store or what...

Basically if I find it someplace else before 8/10 i'll probably cancel my order. Either way I don't plan on waiting till the end of August for my new processor. :)

because for not much more you usually get a 3 year warranty (yes no one usually has to use it but the peace of mind is nice) & you get which can either be enough for overclocking or hold you over till you get a better fan. The OC thing and no warranty is totally not true. Sure if you tell them you OC the chip when you call them for warranty they would not replace your chip but they have no way of telling that you OC the chip.

Does Micro Center have a 30 day price guarantee? I bought an E6400 yesterday morning for 299.00 and it shows online now at 259.00. I called the store to find out, but was on hold for 20 minutes and gave up.

Anyone know?

I am weak. After recieving emails from buy.com and zipzoomfly.com stating that they will not be recieving E6600s until the 4th week of August, I gave in. My area microcenter had a couple 6600s for $359. I snatched one up over the lunch hour. No more stressing for me.

In the end, when I am dumping $1400 into a new system, an extra $40 somewhere isnt going to kill me. I just picked out the 7900GT with the mail in rebate instead fo the other model.

So microcenter has the E6600 at their retail outlets, for $360? Good enough for me if it nets me a chip in-hand...there's a store some 45 miles from me, and it's open until 9:00 pm, so I can head down there after work if it's likely they'll have one.

And I'm just going to pretend not to notice that at ~20 mpg, that gas I'll use driving there and back adds another $15+ to the cost.

Edit: and I guess I could always buy two, and put the second up on ebay to offset the cost of gas.
