Hi guys,

This sounds crazy, but I need a GTX970 build quickly (as in order today if possible). I have a nice 980TI rig that I developed a presentation on that I need to present in a couple weeks. I'd rather not lug my main 980TI box to a public location for multiple reasons (lol).

I developed an introduction to virtual reality based user interfaces, integrating the LEAP with the Oculus Rift in Unity 3D. Based on requirements, it looks like the minimum is GTX 970.

  • NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
  • Intel i5-4590 processor equivalent or greater
  • 8GB+ RAM
  • Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output (preferably two, since the Rift takes a HDMI or DVI)
  • 2 USB 3.0 ports (preferably 4, so I can connect my mouse and keyboard)

Looking for the cheapest/smallest build of in stock items.

I do have a MicroCenter within 45 minutes of me. I wonder if I should take the "midrange" gaming rig from the "low priced" gaming rig thread (lol), and swap out the video card for a 970/980?

Thanks for any help!

Doesn't seem like a problem... grab the credit card and go shopping!

The problem I've had at my MC is the mobo selection... you are at the mercy of what they have on the shelves. I went in last year with a wad of cash and... walked out empty handed because they did not have a reasonable mobo for my purposes (it was January... after the holidays, and the shelves were, quite literally, bare.)

Good advice guys, I just checked MC online and their selection of mobos is suspect!

I just decided I can dual purpose this machine, I need it for the presentation - but will also use it for the triple projector setup I plan to work on during the winter. 980TI it is!
