Actually, the price listed for the X6800 is cheaper than newegg's price, if you can find it again. I think newegg had it listed for $1389 and change. Can't seem to find a link to it anymore, though.

Odd how the X6800 ships in "1 to 3" days, and everything else is "7 to 21"...makes me wonder if Intel is trying to encourage early adopters to go for the high-end model by shipping that one out first, and holding back on the more affordable ones, though it could just as easily be the website attempting to do the same thing, if their profit margin is better on the high-end chips too.

no .. it's just that less people will buy such an expensive processor so they can afford to release it and not worry about it getting OOS immediately..

the E6300/E6400 OTOH are a whole different story. i doubt Intel can make enough this year to keep them on shelves..

Shelves are over-rated. I hope thats not true though, if supply stays short then prices will stay high.
