I just bought a 64gb one for $35 and was wondering what kind of quality I can generally expect. I couldn't pass it up for the price.

also, I'm curious as to who actually manufactures these.

Quality is fine...Performance will suck.

You will not be able to figure out who manufactures them, it's a lottery.

I see them all the time around here (there's a Microcenter nearby.)

They're usually pretty slow. I've seen a few that had lasted a while, and a few that died almost out of the box.

I'd guess it's like anything else mass produced by the lowest bidder. Quantity has a quality all its own or somesuch. If they're cheap, go for it.

I ran a few thumb drives through the laundry, so I try to think of them as reusable but disposable. Like Floppies.

I actually use their smaller thumb drives for giving people files. I buy them in bulk and ask for discount. I usually aim for 4GB drives. (I am an engineer by the way, so I give people lots of files. Who uses CD's anyways). For those who are not well versed in computer knowledge they won't notice a difference in speed.

5/5 for the build quality and speed at that price point.

I've used 4-16GB USB 2.0 and only have used their 8GB USB3.0

They're fairly slow (although much improved over most USB 2.0 drives) and they run pretty hot actually. However, for the price and storage space, they can't be easily beaten.
