Any idea what hard drive is actually in the enclosure? (and can it even be taken out of the enclosure and used as a standard internal drive).

you beat me to it. I was just about to post this. $40 for a 250gb ext is darn fine. Other deals are decent too. I am also going to pick up the $6.99 volt ohm meter... been needing one of those for a while. Online and instore (instore with coupon -- or just order for instore pickup).

I think this was the company that was using refurbished drives... owners had to break the warranty seal to see if the drive in the case had a refurb sticker on it. I think they're clearing our old stock.
