In Dallas, I got in line at 3:30 AM, after about 230 or so people, the line snaking beside and behind the store. (Wal-Mart was just across the parking lot. There were no more than 80 people in line there.) I was very tempted to get back home, since the cool breeze got progressively colder throughout the night. I was among the last people who got the coupon for any of these TVs. Interestingly, the 32" sold of the earliest, and the 37" was the last. I got the 42", but anyone who showed up after 3:45 didn't have a chance! It was funny to see people come in later at 6 am, browse those display models, and ask the manger how they could get one of those.
At 6 AM, when the store doors opened, there must have been over 600 people in line.
In the store, they were pushing hard to sell the $149 store-issued warranty for 3 years. Should I have bought that? They said that they 1-year manufacturer's warranty I have would end up costing me $175 every time the service person had to pay me a visit. One salesperson said that I needed to buy their warranty today; another said I had one-month. I didn't buy one though.
