I wonder, if the store is Out of Stock, if they would substitute the Olyvia Snytax 30".

Hey, Condor, give us a personal review -- hooked up to your 'puter?

Shouldn't your title say $799 instead of $999? It's funny, people were falling all over themselves trying to get the Olevia for $999 before Xmas. But now it's like yawn. I'm happy with my 27" Olevia for about $250 if only the rebate would show up.

I haven't put it into the computer system yet, but it is surely a great TV. I would love to have one for a computer monitor! I've tried most of the functions and it seems to have all of them. It is a TFT LCD panel too. The specs don't include that, but the box has it labeled as such. The spec sheets don't indicate the PIP either. It has PIP from any input and you can vary the size and position. The add I got said it was on sale for 799 at only about three stores. If you didn't get the coupon, no worries. The store will find you one. They want to sell a lot of these.

I did say that the 999 TV was discounted. Should have put the 799 in. Will fix.

I missed the 27" for 250. When was that? Thinking comp monitor again!

This looks really cool, but 1280x768 seems low for a 30" monitor.

I only have access to Kansas City and Cincinnati microcenters, so it's probably just as well.

but they advertise it as if it is one. isn't this the one connected to a computer system as you walk in the door?

I thought i would put a link to the thread you are referring to and also point out that it isnt a repost as that thread was started 3/2/05 and the last post was 3/3/05 and if you go to the page i linked to earlier it says rebate starts 3/9/05, clearly a different deal. Also that thread was for a combo deal (not even at microcenter), part of which was a 30" LCD TV for $999, whereas this thread is for a 30" LCD TV for $799.

You didnt post in the previous thread, so did you do a search to see if there were similar named ones just so you could be a thread crapper and call it a repost even though it isnt?

Not if you use it as a wall mounted living room or bedroom HDTV on which you can also lie in your La-Z-Boy (sic) or bed and switch to casual surfing with your wirless keyboard/mouse combo while employing it at other times as a slideshow jumbotron for your digital pic collection.

1280 by 768 might be the perfect resolution from 6-8 feet away if this unit has otherwise decent chops.

Condor will no doubt tell us shortly, so we can all go out and purchase our own particular piece of the ownership society (P&N inside joke).

What is the real world lag looking like? The specs say 25ms which is VERY high, even at this price point. The Olevia is 12ms and you can definitely tell but it's not too problematic.

One of my fears.

My humblest apologies, that is not the thread I saw when searching and I was wrong to jump to that conclusion. However, you should have posted that link in your original post so as to not look like you are just thread crapping.

Also, how are the two products on the $100 rebate different?

First

Second

The second one is listed $999-$100 rebate, so it would be $899 online for those not in the area for the $799 ones.

Fry's, Houston, often has the Syntax Olivia 27" for $799 with no rebates. I have a 30" Syntax I got there for $999. It is ok for a computer monitor and a TV but definately low end for both. I think is it better than the PowerSpec, though. I have a Sharp 37" at the office, pc for medical use, and it is an entirely different level, about a light tyear ahead, I'd say. Sharp has a new 45" that would make a killer PC monitor. Unfortunately it is about $6995. Considering the first 19" CRT monitors cost about $5500 I guess that would be a deal!
