Well I asked some people here about setting up a PC exclusively for gaming in my living room and I got very nice responses. Especially from AT member YOyoYOhowsDAjello and a few others. Thanks again guys.
I was banging my head and I'm really not will to spend too much money for this machine. This is just a gaming machine that will be on only a few times a week playing my favorite games so shelling out $1800-$2000 for it doesn't make sense. Having this in mind I tried to make a compromise and build a computer that I'm aware I won't be upgrading a lot.
Now, I would like to hear your input and do you think that I could be gaming with this computer at 1280x1024 resolution with all setting high with current high end games alongside new games that might be coming out?
Here's what I have picked out for this super cheap but powerful computer:
- AMS CF-1089BK Black Steel/Plastic MicroATX Mini Tower
Link
- MSI RS482M4-ILD Socket 939 ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Link
This board has 4gb of ram support, one 16x PCI-E and 2 PCI slots. What I'm not sure about is whether or not I can run 7800GT/GTX cards on Xpress chipset by disabling onboard video? I would like to use Nvidia card for now and possibly upgrade to new X1900XTX card down the road. What do you think?
- eVGA 256-P2-N515-AX Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16
Link
- Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-430 ATX12V 430W Power Supply
Link
- AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939
Link
- gigaram 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) DUAL CHANNEL CAS2.5 (good reviews about this ram)
Link
- Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
Link
- ASUS Black IDE DVD Burner DRW-1608P2 BK - Retail
Link
- Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI
---------
Total: $1,127.97
Alternative to this case is Cooler Master's miniATX case Centurion that comes with 380W PSU. Do you think that 380W would be plenty for this configuration?
Here's the CoolerMaster case in question in mini format:
COOLER MASTER Centurion 541 RC-541-SKN1 Black Aluminumm bezel, SECC chassis MicroATX Mini Tower
Link
Total for the computer with this case that includes 380W CM PSU is: $1,069.99
You comments/suggestions very much appreciated.
Thanks
