Well, as part of the upgrade for holiday season, my wife will be getting a Barton 2500+ machine..... I wil reuse most of the components, but the case is microATX. She doesn't like ATX towers, so the case is a must.

Are there any good NForce 2 boards that are mATX? Preferably, a Nforce2 400 ultra board would be the ideal case.

Thanks

Alex

Well there is the Shuttle MN31N. It uses Dual Ch memory, but does have the onboard video with dual monitor.

Yeah, there's a Chaintech

Chaintech/Newegg

- There is also a Biostar that's called M7NCG 400 (Ultra), that's replaced the regular M7NCG (nforce2). Im not sure if newegg is actually shipping this board as a "replacement" for the M7NCG, or if it is even being shipped as of yet.

The MN31N is a sweet little board, MCP-T, IGP G4MX, and dual monitor hook-ups. I've used a couple for builds and they are dependable and quick, a 2500+ running synch dual channel with 2700DDR will have it close to 5K in 3Dmock2k1se. It's a great choice if the video you have is older and slower, or you just want to eliminate clutter and extra heat, and of course, if the wifey isn't a serious gamer ;) It's not an Ultra400 board but unless you were planning to overclock the 2500+ that's not an issue since 333DDR dual channel synch mode will be faster than 333fsb/400DDR memory. IIRC though, when I setup my Mom-in-law's it did go to 200fsb in the bios, HTH :)

That shuttle has a lot of features for the price. It even has firewire hookups. Mine didn't come with cables though.

Its not supposed to come with the headers, that is why it is so cheap. If you look at the ogotos at newegg.com they show NO fire cables. That and most will not use it, so better to keep the price down by not including them.

Yea, I didn't word that right. I just wanted to point out that it didn't come with the headers.

I found out when I got mine. My friend didn't have anything that used firewire. It is just nice knowing it is there if you need it.
