I'm going over my dads house tonight he's running sli'ed gts 512 on vista 32. I'm going to see if he "suffers" form the same issue as me. Then I will have all current windows based os's covered regarding this issue

ok, just got back from my dads house and his rig does exactly the same thing. Sli micro stutters using the mouse until smooth mouse is turned on but isnt completely smooth until keyboard look is enabled confirming the mouse is the percieved jerkiness

Have you tried different mousing surfaces? Perhaps the mouse is picking up imperfections?

microstutter

*** holy bejesus, batman.....

I think I found the source to my microstutter problem. It seems as though it's sorta mouse related. Bear with me on this and also if you can perform these actions too and confirm what I have found that would be most help full.
OK, first off the easiest way to see the micro stutter for me in the most repeatable fashion was in COD4. I would start a new server and load Downpour(lots of foliage that caused the stuttering). Now run over to a very large bush usually on the border of the map. Now looking from side to side would cause lots of little hiccups, so the first thing to do was enable vsync. This actually made the problem much worse, or so I thought. I noticed that if I strafed from side to side the foliage was liquid smooth. The second I touch my mouse to look side to side hiccup city. so I mapped my keyboard to "look " functions and viaola, Every thing is smooth as hell. So I thought made my problem was the mouse itself(razer copperhead). No biggie I have lots of mice. I tried each one and none of them would make the stuttering go away. Yet keyboard looking and playing was as smooth as using a single GPU. ah yes, I can cofirm that single gpu doesn't have this problem, only SLi, and only SLi with a mouse!!
Anybody have any suggestions? My next guess is if something is going on with my usb ports, but I dont seem to think this is the problem either

Yah man i had this prob in cod4. its just a mouse driver - try cod4 1.5 patch, and use mouseaccel and smoothmouse in the game controls - mouse - options menu

A little tinkering with smooth mouse/ sensitivity/ etc should solve it. Dont think it's video card related, except that triplebuffering and v-sync would help when used in combination with smoothmouse. If it was card related you would have seen issues strafing and turning on the y-axis as well.

tearing is vertical sync related, stuttering like your speaking of is m_look/mouseaccel/mouse moothing/triplebuffer/sensitivity related. theres also programs that increase your mouses KHZ input to windows.

really?

i simply haven't seen it ... for more than a second or two - on startup of a game

and i look for these things
It's a documented phenomenon but I can understand if you can't see it because as an example I'm generally not bothered by the tearing from a lack of vsync but many people are.

this may be a dumb question but what about the response time from the LCD's then i was hearing something about 'Input lag' which i know even less about..
The input lag comes from the LCD buffering images in order to interpolate/post-process them.

Some measurements here.

well, i am glad it doesn't bother me ... and i never use vsynch .. with or without triple buffering .. i *ignore* the tearing ... it is never so bad i say. "Oh, wow - this is awful" and put the game away because of it. i prefer the extra performance with tearing than other issues with Vsynch enabled [and triple buffering].

it is always a compromise ... and i am just glad the state of the art is always going forward.

...It's vSync, NOT vSynch

Do you have a license to practice necromancy? I'm guessing not, so please don't practice unlicensed necromancy on our forums, the zombies can be a trite overwhelming.;)

I think microstutter is overrated.

CoD 4, World in Conflict, Team Fortress 2 all have run flawlessly on my rig. Only game that gives me some issues at Very High settings is Crysis, but I attribute those at my rig not able to handle the game more than microstuttter issues or w/e.

Granted, I might not be as good as identifying microstutter as other people... all I know is that I'm getting a smooth gaming experience in every game bar Crysis.
