micro SDHC card cannot be read in a regular SD card slot?

So I have a microSD card from my phone which I just use my SD card adapter to stick into my SD slot of my computer. This worked fine until I decided to get an 8gb SDHC card a few weeks back. I hate dealing with cable so today I plopped that new SDHC card in.

My card reader is like... almost 4 years old (I built this comp aug '05), so SDHC wasn't a factor yet I believe. So I guess even with an adapter, the fact that its an SDHC card just makes it unreadable? The card is intact I'm sure because I can access it when I plug it into my phone and use the USB cable for my phone.

Darn. This makes life more difficult.

Looks like a new reader/writer that handles SDHC is in order. Not all SD readers can handle SDHC.

yup, unlike cf cards, theres a controller in the reader..so its gotta support the memory size. hc breaks old readers. don't buy unless it specifically states support.
