I'm slowing building a htpc (got my Antec Aria case yesterday), and I was just wondering if people had any info on any upcoming Micro ATX boards coming up. I'm not in a hurry so I can wait up to 2-3 months if needed if something good is coming out, but I have had difficulty finding much information on what is coming out and even reviews on the ones out currently.

I checked out some on Newegg but any other info is appreciated, thank you.

The DFI KM400 based mobo is good but I'd like to see one with the new KT880 w/o integrated video, but I don't know of any such thing in the pipeline (however someone does have a KT600 mATX board out there, so it's not impossible to hope for - any company with any sense should be able to see the market for such a thing in HTPC and LAN Party boxes, which they could have to themselves - at least for a while ;) ).

But if you get a Barton 2500+ and some DDR400, just set the FSB to 200 and you'll be rocking at 2.2ghz

I have two SFF's using Intels D865GLC mATX board. Has all of the requisite 865 chipset features except overclocking, but IMO overclocking does not make a happy SFF case. Overall the D865GLC has been super stable and handles everything I throw @ it.

FYI: the Aria has ventilation issues with faster processors. Be prepared to strap on some slightly louder cooling if you're going to run anything >2GHz.

There's already lots of A64 mATX boards if that's your bag - I don't know about the future for the nF3 250 or higher series, but I'm pretty sure there's some OEM who will cram that functionality into a small package in short order.

You can always mod the case for better cooling. My dad has one, and simply put a case fan on the side where the cpu is and his temp dropped from about 50C to like 36-37C.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, much appreciated.

Another question in relation is..since I'm not in a super hurry (1-3 month time frame), am I better off waiting for newere matx boards and newer CPUs? I'm not sure what is on the horizon for Intel/AMD, but if something that is coming out soon is worth the wait I'd rather do that (or if prices drop a bit on the current products). Thanks again.
