Supposedly released tomorrow; shows up on Steam with no price.

Anyone play this back in the day?

It was a pretty fun plat-former, and one of two games my wife ever played.
(The other was Bonk on the NEC Turbo-Grafx16 )

You're sure it's Sega and AM7's Castle of Illusion and not a Capcom Mickey Mouse game?

EDIT: Damn you're right. Too bad I'm broke.

EDIT2: Thanks for the heads up though:)

Cool. Loved that game BITD on Genesis.
Edit: I think at one point I had it on GameGear too.

I remember Mickey's Magical Quest for SNES. Played the crap out of that with my sister.

cause of bad code or cause a game from 1989 just doesn't stack up to todays standards?

I said "both" earlier, now I'll elaborate.
I played the original after getting fed up with the remake and I still enjoy it.
I had to shut off my 2nd display to play it because it would display the game on the 2nd display (a small 23") by default and nothing I did changed that.
The intrusive storytelling, the voices being somehow "off" even while being voiced by the original actors, I simply couldn't get into it.

Played through the first level.
There's was something off about the controls, they seemed jerky, and I couldn't make precision jumps and landing, which is the main mode of attack and exploration in the game.
Just for kicks, I did the same thing that fixed the slowdown issue in Rayman Legends, which was to change the resolution from 1920x1080 to something like 1912x1072. It actually worked. I played through the level again and was able to get many more diamonds (and lose a lot less life!).
So odd. The Rayman issue was it playing the game fixed at 24FPS, so I really don't know why it fixed this as well.
Oh well.
It's fun and I enjoy it more than Ducktales!

I've finished the third level and I'm definitely digging this game. I played the original countless times, and this is true to it.
The narration is entertaining without being intrusive (a la Ducktales, stopping every minute to tell the story), the animation is a well done mix of 2D and 3D, and Mickey himself looks amazing in HD.
Things popping out of nowhere, levels changing, the levels feel very alive even though the "enemy" presence isn't very high. It's pretty easy, but it's fun and a good platformer.
I'm running through it pretty quickly, so it being short won't be a surprise.
It's a great and faithful remake and I appreciate the work they put into it.
