Any Notre Dame fan that is trying to take solace in the fact that this was a good win is just kidding themselves.

ND just beat an unranked team by having to come back from 17 down in the fourth quarter.

MSU handed ND the ball three possessions in a row.

MSU ran all over ND and scored 37 points.

ND is not a very good team.

Improving to 3-1 with 10 point win over UCLA (which UW had to come back from 16-0 btw) with tons of coaching staff changes, less than mediocre talent and a very young and inexperienced offensive line says something about the coach.

I think you are right. ND has good offense but their defense needs a LOT of work. Right now I'd put them around #18. But by season's end we will know if they matchup with the likes of USC, who is playing like the #1 team in the country.

And running into a brick wall everytime they face a top team. Listen, no one is saying ND is a bad football team, or Brady Quinn isnt a good QB. The problem is you like to think you're elite, when you're far from it, just as this game demonstrated.

Edit: Maybe not you personally, but many ND fans. The media sure doesn't help.

Please. Do you think Ohio State, USC, or Texas would be happy about a game like this? No, they'd be upset they came so close to losing to a team like MSU.

Which way do you want to have it? Is ND a elite national contender, or an also ran that takes great pride out of every mediocre win?

Why do I have to want it one way and never another? What the hell, they just lost to Michigan and probably got knocked out of National Championship contention, what's wrong with liking something as miraculous as this?

I didn't say anything about them being happy, I'm sure Weis will be pissed after looking at the game film. Obviously they have defensive holes, but they were able to adjust at half-time and made their own luck in the second half.

Which is why I think ND made a huge mistake giving Weiss a big contract extension last year. He's not a savior. His team is starting to become heavily penalized.

I was addressing a post which thought it was "sour grapes" to point out that the win was not that impressive. A fun game, sure.

Just please stfu in Nd threads and save yourself the embarrasement. This was a great ND comeback victory!
Ah, the classic argument of a has been. But...we used to win lots of football games!

In case you haven't noticed, Notre Dame hasn't lost less than 3 game in a season since 1993.

Here's their record over the last ten years:

2005 9-3
2004 6-6
2003 5-7
2002 10-3
2001 5-6
2000 9-3
1999 5-7
1998 9-3
1997 7-6
1996 8-3

59 - 47

56% winning percentage over a decade.

"Notre Dame. Returning to glory since 1993."

Actually last week blanco was saying Brady Quinn wasn't legit. The guy has no clue and is so biased he can't even acknowledge good players on a team he hates.

I said lately, not in the last decade you douche.

Their record the last 4 years is respectable. It's not what ND had in the glory days, but it's a solid winning percentage. Plus our recruiting has started to turn around. The major problem of the past 18 years (since last championship) has been recruiting. ND ran an old offense that players didn't want to play in, and ND has higher academic standards so it just made recruiting worse. Now with Weiss' offense, the top commitments (read Clausen) are coming earlier. Nothing like USC, however. USC has some MAJOR talent flowing into it's program and I don't see them having a letdown any time soon.
