The Chris Christie Of Michigan Just Published A Devastating Report On Public Sector Pay

Michigan faces a $1.5 billion deficit for 2011. Total government debt exceeds $70 billion. Unfunded costs for pension and retiree health care add another $55 billion.

If this isn't alarming I don't know what is.

And, to add insults to injury 1 in 46 USA homes in foreclosure with Las Vegas holding the record of 1 in 9.

State employees salaries outpacing private sector ones by such a wide margin... just crazy. I would not want to be a private sector taxpayer... state employees are represented by unions who attack every effort to ease the tax burdens. Something will have to give.... and it better not be the federal government.

Until this entire country pulls itself out of our current recession of depression, tax revenues will be down and no State and governments will be able to make up the shortfall.

To a large extent, its what happens to any nation that outsources its economy overseas. A very small set of people get very rich, and everyone else gets diminished.

Some regions will flush down the toilet first, but it will spread to the entire country in a short while.

Uh, has anyone noticed most of the industrialized, free nations on the Earth are all in financial difficulty?

Hard to believe that Bush and his gang could literally break the countries of the free world economy.
But the did.

If you really believe that the previous administration is at fault for the impending economic collapse of the First World, you are precisely what's wrong with this country.

It appears that someone has made sport of you. I regret to inform you that the title of stupidest Internet poster is NOT an official position, does NOT come with a stipend, and does NOT include free health care and housing. Sorry.

If it's any consolation, you're certainly in the running should this oversight ever be rectified. Just in case you may want to get ahead of the pack in blaming Bush for the Black Plague, rickets, and the Tunguska event.

Or maybe it's just because people can't resist the urge to vote themselves more money/benefits? Most mature democracies were busy engaging in deficit spending both well before the world economy went into the toilet, and before Bush was president, so you'll have to find another troll theory.

Democracy last until people realize they can vote themselves other peoples money

Borrowing from Alexander Tytler?

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
