I wish...although, it'd be a fun idea for the next time I visit NYC...I've only been to a few of the 1-star places. I'm interested in seeing the new SF guide as I live on the West coast now and it's much easier for me to get out there.

Finally the new guide. I once played this game with a friend where I listed read the restaurants in the guide aloud and we tallied how many "stars" she had under her built. It was a crazy exercise and gave up after 5 minutes because it was clear she'd been to plenty.

Was Daniel a 2 last year? No major surprises to me, though I am not as up on my NYC restaurants as I used to be.

Yeah, it used to be 3, slipped to 2, now is back at 3, though they list the wrong neighborhood. Del posto was 2, now 1. Alto was 1, now it's 2, and its sister restaurant Convivio is now 1.

I'm a ratings whore :)

Ahh right, I remember when it dropped to 2. There was a battle on a couple of the food boards I visted about whether it was warranted or not.

Does the Michelin guide cover any other cities than New York and San Fransisco? I live in Minneapolis, MN and don't really have any fine dining experience - it'd be nice to have a place to start looking.

Nope, those are the only ones for North America currently. They have been all over Europe for eons.

You can check out sites like Egullet or Chowhound for decent discussions of restaurants in your area.

The typical american thing to do would be to scoff at that restaurant on your way to McDonalds.

@kt I am sure there is at least Vegas and Los Angeles as well, unless you mean currently out.

You're right, since 2007 apparently. My bad, I'm out of the loop now.
