Yep, nothing wrong with breaking laws just because you don't agree with them.

Liberals here are such law and order fans.

If you don't like the laws, get Congress to change them.

Either side is willing to break any Law they don't agree with.

So you are saying that because Bush did something, unless Moore does something as drastic, he does not have to be accountable for knowingly breaking the law?

It's a stupid law.

Work to get it changed.

I don't need to. I can go to Cuba anytime I want without fear of Arrest.

Good for you

Hardly. The only difference between you and Mcowen are the horses you are backing.

You really this obtuse to think this was soley directed towards sandorski? He made a pretty blanket statement which I responded with a pretty blanket statement. Anybody who believes it is a stupid law should work to get it changed.

What would be the difference, extremists usually merge together at the end of the day. OH! I get it, it's the label. :D

It's amusing how the mere mention of Moore sets the wingnuts frothing at the mouth, raving incoherently...

Both of which are clear symptoms of deep denial...

I rather suspect Moore is, once again, using the so-called "Liberal Media" to his advantage. He can easily afford the maximum fine of $50K- really, really cheap advertising for his new film.

So, uhh, rave on, twits. Moore plays the rightwing the way Eric Clapton plays the guitar, as a virtuoso...

You suck at posting anything other than adminstration bullsh8, too, but that doesn't seem to stop you.

Why do your posts always devolve to vulgarities? Educated people can use the english language in a much more literate way to make their points. I thought moveon.orgy's were suposed to be the "elite" and us dumb conservatives hokies from the sticks. Seems based on how you respond to those who disagree with you, that you may in fact be the uneducated buffoon.

BTW, I can't write songs nor sing. At least I do not pretend to be a songwriter (bad one at that) like you.

Why do posts to him always devolve to personal attacks?

Why is calling a bad songwriter a bad songwriter a personal attack? A personal attack would be if one made an assertion on the character of the individual with n proof to support the assertion.

Last time I checked this thread wasn't "American Idol" or "Rate My Song".

Wow man, how much is Harvey paying you? The only reason that loon got bashed on is because he came into a thread about MM and Cuba only to rant about GWB and Iraq......Maybe you should go tell Harvey that the title of this thread isn't "What do you think of GWB and Iraq".

Yeah, he sure played them well in 2004 when his campaigning won the election for the Dems. Oh, wait...

IIRC Moore wasn't heard from for a good long time after the defeat.

Hmmm...the only frothing I have seen is the ranting against GWB (in a thread about MM going to Cuba  ) and lefties talking about how stupid the embargo is. While I do agree the embargo is pretty dumb as long as we allow free trade to other communist countries, its still the law.

The subtitle could be ?Now I know why people risk their lives to get out.?

That was my first thought. I was also thinking...If Cuba is so great, why doesn't Moore close up shop here and start his film career in Cuba?

There's a reason people risk life and limb to leave the place.

They are criminals and get free American citizenship when they set foot on dry land? Pick! Pick! Pick!
They do not get citizenship.

They are granted amnesty and allowed to stay here legally.

There is also such a thing as civil disobedience. I am sure Moore doesn't mind paying the fine. He'll get more free publicity out of this than the money he spends on the fine could ever buy.
The best way to change that law is for everyone to vote Democrat.
The day a Democrat wins the white house without Florida being a deciding state, this embargo will be lifted. It's simply a political law that puts a tiny minority's sour grapes over the rights of the majority of this country to travel freely.

Why is your opinion of my songwriting relevant to the topic of this thread? If you don't like it, nobody's forcing you to click the link and listen to it, ;) but since you raised the issue, all I did was ask you to show us you could do better.

If you can, I'd love to sit at your feet and learn from the master. If you can't, maybe you should try sticking to the topic.

Actually, this loon posted a reply to Pabster's post about Moore:
I hope they fine him real good. It's a travesty the money that clown has made off lies.
I replied:
As much money as the trillions of dollars of debt for this WAR OF LIES that our great grandchildren will still be paying off long after we're all gone from this planet?

As much of a lie as "The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."

As much of a travesty as 3,382 (as of today) dead and tens of thousands of wounded, scarred and disabled Americans in a war based entirely on LIES?

Get real! :frown:
Pabster was quick to cry about all the money Moore has made, calling it a "travesty" and referring to his "lies." My reply was on topic, and my point was the same as others have posted in this thread about the relative scale and significance of Moore's offense.

You asked what my original post had to do with Michael Moore. It's funny that you actually quoted my post AND the previous post to which I replied, but since you were in such a hurry to slam me, I guess you didn't really care enough to take the time to read it in the context of the quote YOU posted.

I didn't say a word about my tune until dphantom decided it was important enough to go off topic and slam me for it. You continued the off topic rant ripping me about about my song so I challenged both of you to bestow the benefit of your creative genius upon us.

You two brought it up. It's your problem if you don't like my reply.

This whole cuba embargo thing is such BS. Fidel is a dick but our policy is completely ineffective. I think history shows that embargos just strengthen the dictorial powers of guys like fidel.

Nothing could have won the 2004 elections for Dems- still too close to 9/11, too much fearmongering and swiftboating...

Check the most recent election to see how times change, and keep raving, it's free publicity for Moore...

You mean, like when Fahrenheit 9/11 was supposed to be the coffin in Bush's campaign for 2004, and assure Kerry a victory...oh wait, that didn't happen.

If I were a Democrat, I would want to distance myself from Moore as much as possible...he represents everything the far right hates about liberals, and the only thing his films do is fire up the conservative base and gets them to the election booth.

Moore = Rush Limbaugh

Oh, and Moore probably violated the laws on Cuba knowing full well it result in his getting fined, with the subsequent free publicity for his film soon to follow.

Yeh, like Colbert points out, facts have a Liberal bias, and can't be trusted...

The conservative base always votes, anyway- even if it's just for baby jesus or to support "family values" or for whatever knee-jerk cause they've got this cycle... Elian Gonzalez, Terry Schiavo, whatever...

Breaking a law is often an important step to take in getting a law changed. It's called judicial review.
