Michael Jordan paid woman $250,000 to keep mum about extramarital affair?

The sky keeps falling for Tar Heel fans. Looks like even MJ isn't safe from falling down from the heavens. Just goes to show that no role model is perfect, right? I'm still surprised though--I hadn't heard anything about this before. Is it old news? I guess it explains why Juanita filed for divorce a while back--maybe he finally told her or something.

Why should we care what Michael does with this d!ck?? He's still the best basketball player ever to play the game and this doesn't diminish it one bit.

Bah, 99.9% of professional atheletes (especially NBA stars since they are on the road so much) have an affair. That 0.1% is AC Green, all because he can't get some. ;)

Arg. It wasn't bad enough that his wife filed for divorce (before reconciliation) now he had an affair with a woman about 3 years after his marriage. Geez MJ... :(

Perhaps it's time to take down the posters of him from my bedroom? Not much to look up to. I liked it better when I knew jack about his personal life and he was the god of basketball. :(

Dude, I always used to think of MJ as the perfect example of an athlete with class. We don't see a lot of class anymore, especially in this league. Okay okay, I understand this is nowhere near as bad as when OJ first got arrested for murder (a lot of his fans/colleagues couldn't believe it.) But c'mon, this is Jordan! He had a TV cartoon and a cereal (along with Bo Jackson and Wayne Gretzky!!) He was in a Looney Toons movie! This really DOES deal a big blow to his fans...especially since so many of them RESPECTED HIM for not being another Sprewell or Iverson etc.

I don't really care what he does with his d!ck, as long as its not a mere TWO YEARS after getting married!!!

Martain Luther King was known for being a serial adulterer (it's well documented). That still doesn't diminish my opinion of his work/efforts during the 60's.

So then tell me why did Clinton's dirty playtime with Monica cause such an uproar when this doesn't? Do people just assume that black people in power can't keep their d!cks in their pants???

Umm, that's easy. Michael Jordan is an athelete. Clinton was our PRESIDENT...COMMANDER AND CHIEF...MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE COUNTRY.

You can't even compare the two.

Jordan is a role model for an athlete, not a husband, muchless a father. Jordan's the best basketball player ever but to equate his court integrity to having integrity in the other areas is naive.

Because most married women don't like being cheated on and he sets a bad example for some who idolize him by doing it. True enough though, It does'nt diminsh his standing as the greatest basketball player.

Two words: Who Cares!

Michael Jordan is a Man. Nothing More Nothing Less. If you placed him high on a pedastool and looked at him as a role model, mores the worse for you. What Michael Jordan does when hes off the court doesnt concern you, me or anyone else but Michael Jordan.

Anyone who looks to professional athletes as a role model is a sucker setting themselves up for the fall.

I agree that he is an a$$hole for cheating on his wife, but unlike some other people, I can distinguish his off the court antics from his stellar ball-playing.

So the god of basketball has a relationship with another woman. Meanwhile, every other nba star east and north of LA continues to smoke weed, hide money, and has an extramarital affair every other hour.

Agreed. I was being serious actually - I always saw MJ as a great role model and athlete...but lately it hasn't been pretty for him off the court. Not to mention, he aparently doesn't spend much time with his kids (no shock there I guess?). I didn't see him as my role model in life or anything, just sports, but I always thought he was a good guy. That's not to say he isn't because he had an affair and all the other crap, just diminshes my respect for him as a person - which I suppose doesn't matter, but I grew up watching MJ and even went to a Bulls game with my dad as a 'quick weekend trip' (only time we've ever done that :Q) in '98 vs. the Jazz in the regular season (I was hard core), so it's disappointing.

I have had those posters up since I was little - relics from my childhood. They'll be coming down when I move in July...no need for bare walls now, but damn.

Well, either way, he's the best damn basketball player ever.

The press totally insulated him. He was the best interview on the planet because of his basketball status, so he got away almost everything. Occasionally news hit about gambling debts or rumors about affairs, and an occasional book like Jordan Rules, but he owned the local media. To cross him was like asking to get blackballed by him, and that wouldn't be a very good career move for a beat writer.
