"He falsely told investigators in January 2017 that he had not discussed US sanctions against Moscow with Mr Kislyak before Mr Trump had taken office, according to his plea agreement.
Flynn also lied about his request to Mr Kislyak that Russia delay or block a vote at the United Nations on a resolution condemning Israeli settlements."

Yeah, that's treason. Judge is a grandstanding fucktard that should be sitting on a park bench somewhere not in a courtroom. Fucking idiot.

With such a profound legal mind as yours, it would seem you'd have no problem making lots of money being a lawyer. *snickers*

Sullivan knew what Flynn's defense team was doing (which was simultaneously claiming leniency for remorse and cooperation and also claiming that he was duped into pleading guilty) and took steps to mitigate it by putting Flynn back under oath and asking him questions about his understanding of what actually happened. Flynn had a choice to either stick with the defense's sentencing memo story about being duped and perjuring himself or telling the truth and contradicting the sentencing memo. He chose to limit his own exposure, and the judge delayed sentencing to give Flynn time to make up his mind if he actually knew anything else he wanted to tell Mr. Mueller.

Not quite. It's not about what Flynn told Mueller but rather about how Flynn tried to portray himself as a victim of the FBI in a court filing. It's also about the utter wrongness of the underlying act of meeting secretly with Kislyak & lying about it.

Flynn blew it badly. When found out, he should have resigned & told us it was a well intentioned lapse of judgement.

Flynn was just going along with the Trump tactic, trash the FBI.

This is the way I understand this...

Flynn pled guilty. Under oath, he admitted his guilt and agreed to take full responsibility for his actions.

Prior to sentencing, both sides submit their own sentencing recommendations to the court. This prosecution recommendation generally talks about the heinousness of the crimes and the horribleness of the defendant and how they should be severely punished.
The defense recommendation usually talks about the defendants good works and service to his family community country and God, and minimizes the crimes as uncharacteristic lapses in an otherwise saintly life. They recommend a light sentence.

In Flynn’s sentencing memos, among other things his lawyers argued that he should get off easy because the FBI agents tricked Flynn into lying by not being mean enough to him during questioning and .........hey look over there Peter Strzok was one of the agents and he got in trouble for saying mean things about Trump while having an affair. These are Fox News talking points.

Seeing this bullshit in the sentencing memo pissed the judge off. And it seemed to negate Flynn’s under oath admission of total and contrite guilt. Which would mean maybe Flynn was lying under oath then. Which is why the judge wanted him put under oath today. And why the judge was so annoyed.

1. His plea mentioned his full cooperation and acceptance of his guilt.
2. His sentencing memo argued "I only confessed because the FBI cheated".

Both of those things cannot be true. If he was truly guilty & sorry as he originally plead, then he lied when they later filed the sentencing memo and cast doubt on the case. If he was cheated by the FBI, then he lied when he originally plead guilty. Flynn's team was trying to not only mitigate the sentencing, but keep him in good odor with Trump in the hopes of a pardon.
You hit the nail on the head, and the judge was having none of it. He literally made him admit in court that the FBI did not "ambush" him and a few other things they were trying to spin.

His own defense lawyers literally admitted in court that this legal strategy was not Flynn's idea and they were responsible for the approach they took with the court.

Part B of Flynn's memo to the court apparently pissed off Sullivan, as well it should have. Jets of steam would have shot from his ears if such a thing were possible.

It should have been simple & to the point, simply stating the crime & his admission to it. "Yes, your honor, I lied to the FBI & ask for your mercy based on my subsequent cooperation. It was a huge mistake on my part." If the judge wants more detail, simply admit the chain of events leading up to that lie.

Don't imagine that you're in a position where you can afford to try to make it into a political statement or an attack on the FBI, which is what Flynn did. Arrogant dumbass.
