The thing is, Trump himself is responsible for Cohen turning on him. After those tapes were released Trump went off on Cohen over twitter. It was after that Cohen decided to cooperate with Mueller. If Cohen is a threat to Trump and that is why they are saying this idiotic crap, then it was a self-inflicted wound anyway. A consequence of the fact that Trump can't control himself.

It happened before that. It happened when Trump said "I always liked Michael" which was basically a kiss off. So of course he rolled over after his lawyers talked with the prosecutors because they had him by the balls. It's the smart answer, the best way to cut his losses because he knew he couldn't depend on executive clemency. He's kinda the John Dean of Stupid Watergate.

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/02/26/matt-gaetz-michael-cohen-1189581

Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis, called Gaetz's remarks "despicable."

"We will not respond to Mr. Gaetz’s despicable lies and personal smears, except to say we trust that his colleagues in the House, both Republicans and Democrats, will repudiate his words and his conduct," Davis said in a statement. "I also trust that his constituents will not appreciate that their congressman has set a new low — which in today’s political culture is hard to imagine.”

Gaetz shot back when reporters asked about the tweet: "This isn't witness tampering, it's witness testing."

Just a congressman intimidating a witness. Or another day in Trump world. We can now expect members of Congress to be nothing more than Internet trolls.

The Republican party is like Putin's United Russia party, a crime family pretending to be a political organization.

So what if there are some illegal revelations? Unless there is a bigly enough number of Repubs willing to even do anything about it, Pelosi likely won't go through the show of a dead end impeachment process. She's said as much. No one believes a sitting president can be indicted, so then what happens? probably nothing.
You do it for 2 reasons

1. Constitutional duty despite what the Senate will do. Even if the Senate won't convict I think they have to have the trial.

2. Get all the Mueller info released. The DOJ rule sayd can't indict a sitting President it gives AG an excuse to not release report because of rule broken by COmey, if not indicting don't release information. However the House can subpoena the full report to be used for impeachment since that trial is not criminal. There plenty of precedent from Watergate where SC would vote in favor.

Anyone read this whole document yet?

TESTIMONY OF MICHAEL D. COHEN - COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT AND REFORM - U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES - FEBRUARY 27, 2019
https://int.nyt.com/data/documenthe...imized/full.pdf?smid=nytcore-ios-share#page=1

CNN has apparently already reviewed the transcript and cohen in the testimony claims that trump knew stone reached out to wikileaks

https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/27/politics/michael-cohen-testimony/index.html

(also if you search that doc for 'wikileaks', you will find the claim on pg 2)

Lots of big statements.
"He was a presidential candidate who knew that Roger Stone was talking with Julian Assange about a WikiLeaks drop of Democratic National Committee emails. "
"A lot of people have asked me about whether Mr. Trump knew about the release of the hacked Democratic National Committee emails ahead of time. The answer is yes "
"Mr. Stone told Mr. Trump that he had just gotten off the phone with Julian Assange and that Mr. Assange told Mr. Stone that, within a couple of days, there would be a massive dump of emails that would damage Hillary Clinton’s campaign. "

Also trump was personally signing checks for repayment of the hush money after he became president but before he publicly admitted it. The whole time he was lying whilst signing checks on the side to cover it up. This stuff is crazy.

To me, if Cohen can produce the copies of the checks issued to him to pay off Stormy and Mcdoogle then he's toast, what can trump do at this point, claim the check(s) were "fake"..

He's pretty thorough about providing documents illustrating his points. I don't know that the talk about the Russia meeting would hold up in court (it's Cohen's word versus Trump's), but there's a lot of tangible evidence on display.

This Cohan testimony will go nowhere.
Trump will say he's lying.
The administration will call Cohen a lier.
Fox will repeat Cohan's a lier.
Cohan will offer no real proof to back up his testimony.
And we end up with yet another so typical stalemate.

It's hard to believe that everyone who has come forward or who has written tell-all books are all lying and delusional. Making it all up.
And it's harder to believe how the wagons circle around Donald Trump to protect him.
This is either some mass orchestrated conspiracy to get Donald Trump, or some mass orchestrated conspiracy to take over the country.
I opt with the latter.

Cohen apparently has a signed check from Trump’s personal bank account reimbursing him for his Stormy Daniels payoffs from August 2017 - ie: long after Trump became president.

This means Cohen has documented evidence of Trump’s participation in a criminal conspiracy while in office.

Appreciate the absolute silence from our resident Trump humpers and those so concerned about decency in government types they couldn’t possibly vote for Democrats or Hillary but instead voted to burn it down.

It is a big thought but it doesn’t matter to 50% of the people out there and zero percent of the Trumpers.
Normal people are going to assume if someone drops off something useful for a campaign the campaign will use it regardless of its value
Trumpers will claim that it’s smart to use all data to win & Trump is smart
Very few will care about the checks written to porn girls, of course he’s going to write those checks, similar to of course Clinton wasn’t going to say he got a bj from an intern.

Don’t lecture me on the law, I’m stating what I see

I think Trump would use Gold Bars over some Paper Check.

There are symbolic things about the names in this case. It's all a rigged Circus Side-Show.

This testimony looks to be by equal measure absolutely damning in a corruption/criminal sense and absolutely hilarious.

I think my favorite part so far is where Cohen will testify to Trump having him set up a straw bidder at an auction that included a portrait of Trump to make sure it fetched the highest price. Trump then tweeted this:

Oh my! He just found out that his portrait went for the most money after he paid for it himself! Oh, then Trump stole money from his charity to pay himself back.
