I cant put a finger on it. Its VIA's fault though im sure of it. I recently tried out ubuntu, and my mic worked under that, however under windows it simply dosent work correctly. Heres a list of intersting possibly useful things that might help in disgnosing this problem.
1. The mic works at the START of windows, before a certain driver kicks in? Also i can hear a sort of buzzing whever i move the mouse around, however as soon as im at the desktop, end of buzzing end of mic.
2. SNDREC.EXE registers noise coming into the mic, i can see the wave line going up and down when i speak into it, however when i save the file and play it back, there is no sound.
3. It works under ubuntu.
To me that says driver issue, but ive tried half the drivers out there for this sound setup, none have had any effect, although the latest one stopped the buzzing and mic working at start.
I have Realtek AC97 audio with VIA VT8237R audio controller on the southbridge.
Pretty confused over what this audio actually is. VIA's 4 in 1 thing installed a realtek driver, as it said so in the device manager, but the motherboard manual says nothing about realtek. The mobo is an MS9617 aka MSI K8T Master2 FAR7.
Anyone else have similar problems?
