Mic-jacks stopped working?

Before I touched my system today:
Everything works fine, 'cept that I hated the X-connect PSU. (needed adapter from 20 to 24-pin ATX)
What I did:
So I just popped in a new powersupply, and re-routed all the cables in the case. After I put everything back together...
What happened:
Both mic-jacks (front and back) no longer work! However, stereo-out works from both the front and back.

Specs:
A8N-SLI Deluxe mb
Using on-board sound

I've tried:
-Looking for any and all mic enable/disable/mute/unmute settings
-Checking the cable I'm using to check the ports
-Re-seating the audio connections to the case [front ports]
-Checking if the mic is working but just really really quiet

...all without luck :(

What else can I try? Is it likely or even possible that mic has gone bad? Please help!

Yes it is possible. Accessory type ports such as these and nics can die with no warning at all. I would contact Asus and see if they have any ideas. I would have ditched the x-connect piece of junk too.
