mic isn't picked up

ok, so I have a microphone, and it is plugged in, but it isn't recognized. I can hear it through the speakers if I unmute it in the playback options, but I can't hear anything, nor does it recordo anything in the record section. I am using an Audigy 2 and Win XP x64. Any thoughts?

(yes it is not mutued in the recording section, and I have put in the newest software/drivers

The mic is set as the input in the recording part of the Audigy mixer, correct?

yes, but my screen doesn't look like that. x64 software, just looks like the normal windows one

Hi, The mic is not "Picked up" as is most other devices. The system could care less whether a mic is connected or not. You have proven that the mic and the sound card work. Your problems is software or the Mixer is not set up properly. Luck, Jim
