Mic input on Livedrive 2 better quality than the input on the SB Live card?

I just bought a good quality Audio Technica microphone (dynamic cardioid, 500 Ohm impedence) because I'm also using one on my company PC (with an SB Live! Platinum with Livedrive 2 and Altec Lansing ADA70 speakers), and I like the clarity and accuracy of the recording.

However, when I jack it into the rear mic input of my SB Live! at home (the first model that was released; the one with the digital I/O card), I seem to notice that the quality of the recording is not as good as the Livedrive connection (with FPS1000 speakers).

Is the quality of the input on the Livedrive 2 really better or is it just my setup? If it is, I am thinking of getting the Platinum just for the Livedrive 2 (and I think that it is also useful and convenient for me to have the two RCA inputs and full-size MIDI ports on the front panel of my PC). Comments?

BTW Is the Livedrive 2 fully supported by Win2K?

Thanx in advance.

yes, i think that i have read somewhere stating that the input on the front through the live drive was better.

yes, with Live Ware 3, the live drive is fully supported, this has newly been released from Win2K, so you will have to d/l it from creative

Thanks for the reply. If so, I think I'll be getting the Platinum.

BTW Since I already have an SB Live! card installed, can I just upgrade by swapping with the new card and mounting the Livedrive 2 unit, without needing to reinstall the drivers and/or Liveware 3?

Thanx.

It depends which SB Live you have, does the end have a socket like an IDE one, because if it does, it can support the Live Drive II, this is pratically the Platinum except the software
