Mic Echo, how do I stop it?!

I bought a mic and hooked it up to the same sound card my speakers are connected to (Z-560's and Audigy 1) and whenever I talked, I get a playback from my speakers. Anyway to fix this?

The usual way is through using headphones instead of speakers, that way the mic won't pic up the sound.

Agh, that sucks. So I would have to use headphones when talking to my friends, rather then a mic?
