Mic dont work under windows 2000

I use windows 2000.
When i start windows and record something mic works fine. But then for some reason, it its saying device is busy when i start recorder second time. It happens randomly. Sometimes even when i have no applications working at all its still saying device busy when i try to record. Logoff, login fixes this, but its annoying already.
