Jules, it kinda goes like this:
1) Scene in club -> Linkin Park and Jay-Z's "Numb/Encore"
2) Scene on speedboat -> Moby/Pati LaBelle's 's "One of these Mornings"
3) Sex scene with Colin Farrel looking repulsive -> Audioslave's "Shape of Things to Come"
4) Sunrise after the dumb climactic shootout -> Mogwai's "Auto Rock"

That's the only thing that sticks with you after the movie's over: great music cues.

Not sure if any of that includes marketing and other costs, such as distribution and such, but that's not that great of a return for a movie. While it is 21%, that's spread over 1 year plus and many of these movies are financed through what is called a "slate deal" in the securitization market, which might cost you ~9% to fund over several years.

Personally, the movie sucked. Ferrel looked like a greasy moron with a semi-mullet and he tried to sound badass with his voice but really doesn't have what it takes to back it up. He's not a horrible actor, but he was more true to his nature in something like Phone Booth.

Overall, the movie was a bore except for the last few minutes. It seemed very disjointed and incomplete.
