Besides, M. Mann directed the movie. He could make a movie about paint drying exciting.

Heat
The Insider
Collateral

All great movies.

I really don't understand, but I thought both Miami Vice and Collateral were possibly 2 of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life... They both dragged on and were utterly boring and predictable.. I disliked both a great deal. I haven't even seen the others.

I think people should not compare this movie to the TV series, or look at it as a remake of the series. The series was 20 years ago.

More importantly, they didn't remix the original theme music for the movie. How can it be "Miami Vice" without Jan Hammer's score?

Mann has stated that the movie bears little resemblance to the series. Not sure why he decided to go that route. I enjoy Mann's films, so I'll probably check this one out.

Saw it earlier. Thought it was horrible. Colin's accent was to easy to hear, the plot was very murky, and there was little action. I love Miami Vice. I've been wanting to see this for months. I was very disappointed. 50% of the movie was his love affair with the Asian Chick, and the other 50% was a slow developing plot that at times made little sense. Seriously, save your money.

I liked this quite a bit. Very michael manny. Fans of his style won't be disappointed probably. I liked it a little more than collateral I think.

Spoilers

Svnla, might want to pay attention while watching movies. The chick said she knew people who could get them through to cuba when sonny said his passport might not be accepted. Trailer park had multiple people inside. They didn't work for the government, they were miami police officers. They explained which department had the mole.

She did say that but still not realistic but that no big deal.
The trailer had one big guy outside to guard and then the guy with the trigger and one boy and one old woman. I didn't see anyone else. I expect more bad guys inside to guard.
I saw the email <Tuesday?> but still didn't have the name(s) of the mole(s).
And I still stand by my other points. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Mann, especially ManHunter with Petersen <CSI> and the original Vice shows in the 80s. Overall, it was a decent movie but could have been much better.

I watched it tonight, i hated it. It was terrible. Long, drawn out dialogue, tried to be overdramatic, had no feeling. Very few action scenes. I didn't like the camera work at all, it was just annoying because of how "bumpy" it was. I'm sure their intention was to make u feel like you're in the action, but the way they did it i just didn't like. Don't waste your money.

im gonna agree with you on this. i felt it was a little boring and kept on going, the love story they tried to tie in was boring as well....jus something about it irked me. i think the creators were trying toooo hard to make it cool.

Wow i can't believe it sucked that bad. I have the same gripes everyone else had. Way too slow, characters had no personality whatsoever, only a couple of good action scenes, boring dialogue, boring plot, plot holes all around (didn't explain some important things it seemed like, or draw a conclusion to the "story" at all). I didn't really want to see this movie in the first place, i figured i'd wait till it came on TV. I was forced to choose between Miami Vice and Click, so i tried to pick the one i wanted to see more (sandler movies have sucked for a while). I chose Miami Vice because i figured with Michael Mann it would at least be mediocre (plus the reviews are a fair 41% on rottentomatoes). I was really disappointed in the movie though, and wasn't expecting much either. I'm going to have to think twice next time i think about seeing a Michael Mann movie. Heat, The Insider, Collateral were all great, really well put together movies. Vice was garbage.

Judging from the replies in this thread I think I will have to pass. The people who didn't like it gave a lot of good reasons, and the people who liked it gave jack sh1t to back it up. I also couldn't stand the camera action in bourne supremacy, if this movie is anything like that... well... won't even waste the 2 bucks to rent it.

Good call.. the movie was utter crap, 2/10 in my book.

if you can stand 2 hours of talking and 30 min of action go right ahead. that one guy(sonny) had to much sex and not enought shooting at.
