It's very likely that it will be a PS3 exclusive, but it's not Peter Moore's decision, so what he says is pretty irrelevant really. The only thing Peter Moore knows is what Konami tells him.

You guys are crazy, me thinks.

I've never played the franchise, but have been intrigued by everyone saying it's a killer app, and that it will singlehandedly rescue the PS3.

However it does bother me that all I ever get from this game is movie after movie. They're great exciting movies, but I have no idea what the gameplay is like. Will I be doing that martial arts fighting from the last trailer? Is it just a fps with a lot of cutscenes?

It's basically a "sneaking" game, usually bird's-eye view. You mostly use a gun though you can get physical (snapping necks).

You can actually get through the entire game without killing anyone, but it's difficult.

Not that I care since I don't like that series, but is there any other source for this? That quote-free snippet is pretty sparse on the details. Where did he confirm this?

Interview on Kotaku

I wouldn't say that he outright confirms anything though. Too much PR-speak.

So Splinter Cell with more shooting?

Thanks for the info. All I can picture is Hitman or Splinter Cell. I like those games, but they're definitely not system sellers for me. Your description makes these trailers even weirder, as they don't show much sneaking at all.

Kojima himself have said MGS4 is PS3 exclusive numerous times, as recently as E3. He said if he ever makes a game for Xbox 360, it would be a new game. So let this horse die instead of beating it.

The style & depth of the gameplay is amazing. Completely unique & varied. Fastpaced in the action & tense in the stealth bits. Has some of the best boss fights of ALL TIME. IMO this game shits all over Splinter Cell. SC is dull, stale & repetitive with a played out style, boring gameplay, no boss fights, shit story, etc... That is just my opinion though. :)

This game is NOTHING like Hitman. It sounds like you never played any of'em. The MGS series is the quintessence of high quality game design. Right up there with Half Life 2, Halo series, Final Fantasy, etc. If you write off the game simply because the way it sounds then it really is your loss.

That sucks. Remember when Substance was released on the original Xbox? Would be sick if they could do something like that with Guns of the Patriots... I hate this exclusive shit. Konami shouldn't be up Sony's ass like that.

Definitely didn't come close to confirming anything. From what he said it does sound less likely that the game will be on the 360, but I think we have another case of a no-name website reading too much into something (like that other site that reported that Microsoft said 100% of Xbox 360s are defective and will have to be replaced).

When did say I was writing anything off? The only thing i'm trying to do her is understand the hype. I haven't made up my mind about anything, and still plan to check out what this game is about when previews, demos, and reviews are released. However, I can only go by descriptions until the company actually releases some gameplay footage. So thank you for helping.

LMAO. Don't know about all that.

I'm pretty sure the third one is still only on the PS2, right?

Regardless, even more so than when this thread started, Peter Moore REALLY isn't the best person to confirm or deny anything for MS or Konami's future.

The game is definitely high quality, but it's getting a bit outta hand in the cinematics department. I think all the fight scenes with Raiden are WAY overdone and way too stylistic. MGS1 was a lot grittier. It had its share of cutscenes, but they were all short and baddss. Cutscenes started getting out of hand with MGS3 with the uncharacteristcally long in game cutscenes. In MGS1, the custcenes were great because they were pushing along a great story and you could really feel the tension. But in MGS3, you had a lot of excessive talking, gun twirling, and growling that was completely unnecessary. Unforturnately, its seems that Kojima has decided to keep up with the extra theatrics that don't make Raiden look cool at all. Stylish, but lacks tension.

Some game footage is supposed to be released today. We are supposed to see Kojima play an actual demo at the Metal Gear 20th Anniversary celebration.

MGS3 one is a PS2 exclusive. In short, MGS2 was the only MGS to come to the Xbox, which isn't anything special since MGS 1 was released for the Gamecube.

MGS is popular for its obscure story, characters, humor, and style. IMO, the MGS series always has the most unusual and interesting presentations. The gameplay is just alright.
