MGS2.5 For XBOX Shipping Today! :)

Yeap. Far away from MGS3. It's more like MGS2 Special edition for Xbox.

So many games, so little cash, so little time.....

Some of the important highlights from the GameSpot blurb ...

and the ability to play through the entire game as Snake or the elusive Ninja character rather than being forced to use Raiden

Did anyone actually like that prissy, fairy, choirboy whiny bitch anyhow? Wonder how they redid the story & dialogue for that one. 😕

Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance for the Xbox is available in stores now, although the PS2 and PC versions won't be available until the second quarter of 2003.

PC version! YES! 😀

Unfortunately this is giving me another reason to buy an XBox now. Grr. MGS2:S, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Splinter Cell, and of course the Big Ones like Halo 2, Doom III, and Perfect Dark Zero.

Damn you, Microsoft.

Apparently in this one, you get all of mgs2 from the ps2 version, along with some extra missions where you play as spoiler and spoiler. It'd be pretty damn cool if you spoiler.

Also there's supposed to be a bunch of new VR missions as well.

Not to mention all new 5 mini-story of snake-tales.....God do I love Metal gear series.
And no, I never liked Raiden. And Rose is kind of pissing me off too. If they bring in Mei-Ling to replace her when you're playing as Snake, that would be heaven. 🙂

The interesting is that no one is talking about this game either. Splinter Cell has gotten all the attention for this kind of game.

Has anyone seen the commercial for this? I got it off planetxbox last week and it is pretty funny.

I've never played this game and I have $40 on an EB Gift Card. Is this game worth it? The $40 is burning a hole in my pocket, but I can't decide what game to get for the Xbox. Currently own PGR, Halo, NCAA Football 2003.

It's very good game, one of the best games in PS2. It might not have all the features Splinter Cell has because it's from like 2-3 years back, but the storyline and graphics still kicks major a$$.

I'm going to get Splinter Cell just because I played MGS2 on PS2.

I remember reading somewhere that even creater of MGS2 was "very impressed" by Splinter Cell. Can't wait to play this game.

Bah I just rented and beat Metal Gear solid 2 for the PS2 last night, Its not a game. In the 10 or so hours I played it I watched probally 6 friggin hours of movies...... There was very little game play, to many cut scenes. It was fun thoguh the little bit you get to actually play it.... But its NOWHERE near as in depth as the 1st one. IMO

I agree the story is a little extreme in this one. I liked it more because you can control snake so much better. (played the tanker part of the game 10 times more than other parts just because of solid snake)

Yea the raiden dude sucks to play as, its a good game to get it you want to spend 50 bucks for a weeks worth of fun, with a very good BUT long story line.

Well dont get me wrong its a great game, but for 50 bucks its way to much to pay, Pre-owned might be pushing it at around 35-40. If you can get it for under 30 i say go for it. Or better yet rent it for 5 days and you will have it beat....... and still get to enjoy it.

I beat MGS2 in a week, and I was very very VERY VERY VERY disappointed with the ending.
WORST. ENDING. EVAR.

I played the Splinter Cell Demo this week and was very impressed. VERY VERY impressed. I'm buying it the day it comes out.

I hated it too, really let down. Not to mention the cutscenes towards the end lead me to believe that spoiler and then at the very end of the game spoiler

I made the mistake of playing it on "very easy" (not a console gamer and this was the first real game I ever played on one). The boss battles were a JOKE. I beat the end boss without breaking a sweat. The spoiler had me worried, but I only ended up using one ration

I sae an item in OXM a couple of issues ago where Hideo Kojima expressed his admiration for Splinter Cell and what that team had accomplished.

High praise indeed!

Actually not my creation. I've seen them used like that on other boards where HTML isn't enabled (so you can't just make the test the background color). Don't want to ruin the game for those xbox owners who haven't played it yet 😀

To be brutally honest, after you get about 3/4 of the way through the game, you realize the entire plot becomes an unintentional farce of tremendous proportions. The plot gets so ridiculously incoherent, outrageous, and nonsensical that it suspends all possibility of believability. In addition, by the end you are so plagued with useless CODEC transmissions that you just want to turn the goddamned thing off. Plus, after all the trouble you go through to beat the game, you get an ending which could have been made by a seventh grader with a handycam. Seriously, when I spend that long playing a game, and when you build up the stupid ass plot THAT much, I expect better.

My advice is to buy the game for the extra missions and VR missions, but when you play the main MGS story, quit when you get about 3/4 of the way through and cut your losses. Trust me.

I felt the same way. The only reason I finished the game was for the last two boss battles. The second to last long cutscene was better then the crap they had at the very end.

Everyone's comparing MGS2 and Splinter Cell, which is a little unfair. MGS2 was created 2-3 years ago with a lot less hardware resources in mind (namely PS2), while Splinter Cell is created for xbox. Like it or not, xbox's hardware kicks a$$.

This is another exclusive on XBOX. IIRC this one runs for 6 months and then development on other platforms will start.

MGS3 is another XBOX Exclusive
