I really want to pick it up too. But the fact that the original MGS needs a PS1 memory card to be able to save has me second guessing. I could play it on my ps3, but would prefer to play a game like this on a sdtv in my bedroom.

And also the fact that many people/rumors are saying that it is going to be a limited pressing only fuels that. So not sure =/

I enjoyed MGS1, but never got into MGS2 or MGS3. It's good to know that this is available in case I ever wanted to give the others another try.

PS1 memory card? Do they still make those? I assume then that they also didn't make any enchancements or additions to any of the games.

From the descriptions there's nothing new but it collects the final versions of each game with all the extra content that was added after the first releases of the games.

I was never into stealth games until I played Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines on the PC but now this sounds interesting.

With this and Persona 3 FES in April, it's still worth owning a PS2 or PS3 with BC.

Don't all PS1 games need PS1 memory cards anyway?
Besides, you can beat MGS in less than 4 hours, you don't need a stinkin' memory card.

I'm waiting for Amazon to ship my copy. Need to play Snake Eater before MGS4.

That is so incredibly lame. Whats the point of them releasing such a gimped product, even if its 29.99?

It's not lame if you have a PS3 ( = virtual mem cards on the hard drive) or already have a PS1 card for games like Xenogears, FF 4 - 9, Chrono Trigger, all the PS1 platformers, etc.

Otherwise just add $15-20 to the cost and then pick up some of those other PS1 games too.

Oh, I thought you'd need a PS1 memory card even on the PS3. Thats not too bad then.

I've got a PS3 (my first console), and never played any of the MGS games. Is this pretty much a "must buy"?

How hard are the games, and are they real "twitch-based"? I don't like FPS's on consoles, can't get used to aiming. I guess I am too used to using a keybaord and mouse.

Thanks.

Metal Gear is a tactical 3rd person shooter, not a run and gun FPS.

I've only played MGS3, but there's very little twitch-based gameplay. Mostly it involves solving puzzles and figuring out how to get through an area without anyone noticing you. There are a few parts near the end of 3 where you're really just doing a lot of shooting, but they're not that bad (except for the part at the very end with the infinitely spawning enemies?infinite spawns are NEVER welcome in ANY game).

What it comes down to is that if you find yourself relying on gunplay all the time, you're doing something wrong.
