Mexico is a failed state at this point. Unless it is completely gutted and all of the major cartels killed...not just jailed, but killed, there is zero chance of recovery.

Yeah, police are corrupt. They also tell you to watch out, cause a lot of the cartels dress up like police and rob/kill you. There are so many horror stories coming from Mexico these days. LOTS of be-headings, rapes, etc. Also, have you guys heard about the stories of them pulling over buses of people and making them all fight to the death? Pretty sick stuff.

It is out of control.

We're going to look back at Afghanistan and Iraq as just 'practice for Mexico' if things don't change quick.

I go once a year too. Never had the slightest issue with safety. The Yucatan is largely immune from the other problems Mexico has. Oh well....keeping more Americans away from PDC isn't necessarily a bad thing imo...

It's insane that we spend so much time and money over their while our neighbor is doing more damage to us than either of those countries ever have x1000. If we had spent the money on trying to fix Mexico instead of those wastelands we'd probably be sitting pretty at this point.

Legalize/regulate/tax drugs in the US and create a new immigration dynamic for Mexico. Problems solved.

Our population's hunger for drugs the US government has made illegal causes 90% of the problem

Nobody is raped until they are.

US has travel warnings for various Mexican states. None for playa yet but even at the best of times it is still a hyper-corrupt nation. My general guideline now is if the country isn't blue on the international corruption index map I would be more careful visiting it.

Or maybe we should stop trying to "fix" all these foreign countries and deal with our own mess.

The ol funneling of money from Americans into Rich's pockets driven by fear and war......while accomplishing NOTHING.

The story of Mexico, Afghanistan....Iraq.........and you can add another dozen countries over the years.

2 resolutions to this simple problem

1 - make lobbying illegal and audit each and every politician past 68 years (to be exact). Same goes for all major Corporations/COEs that drive the government to do what they do. Charge them with treason and punish accordingly.

2 - make drugs legal and tax them. Law doesn't stop people from doing ANYTHING, if anything quite the opposite. Might as well make some money and pay off some of that debt.

Unfortunately none of this will ever happen. That's because our economy would crash and American's would have to face the reality. Truth is, American economy cannot survive without worthless Drug agencies, war/"defense" sectors. Even though both of these sectors have a long history of accomplishing NOTHING.

But hey, it keeps thousands employed and makes few TONS of money.

Clean up Mexico all you want, there will be another.

Get used to it, life is not fair (it never was).
