Mexico legalizes personal possesion of drugs. They have joined the 21st century. Where the heck is the US???

LOL and so this is somehow a good idea because we all know that heroin, cocaine, and ecstasy are basically like vitamins...i mean they aren't addictive or harmful

Sweet. I can only hope this makes the war on drugs even more difficult for us (in the US). To the point where someone, somewhere, will realize exactly how fruitless this "war on drugs" of ours is, and eventually just ends

Good job Mexico

Hey, what a great idea, maybe one day the US could be as prosperous as Mexico!

Hopefully we could have all the corruption too.

There you go. A perfect opening for you conspiracy theorists with no perspective on comparitive politics to say the US is even or worse than Mexico in terms of corruption.

So if he said Amsterdam what would your opinion be?

What do conspiracy theorists have to do with this administration clearly being corrupt?

9/11 is just one facet, at least Mexico isn't going into other countries and starting a war on _______.

That isn't the point, its the pointless war on it we have here in the US. Wasting my tax dollars that could be better spent helping those addicts. People who are addicted need to be treated properly, as someone with a DISEASE, not as a criminal. And helped.

I don't expect the ignorance in here (ATOT) to change by anything I say, but making things illegal DOESN'T stop people from using, selling, buying and otherwise getting these drugs. In fact, in some ways it makes it easier - and in others, it only helps with young people's impression of them. "Don't do drugs." The first thing people want to do is DO what people say they can't do.

'The presidency congratulates the Congress for approving the reforms,'' said presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar. ''This law gives police and prosecutors better legal tools to combat drug crimes that do so much damage to our youth and children.''

so how exactly does that help fight the war on drugs concerning children?

I haven't studied Amsterdam's government enough to answer that.

Well you are just using a cop out then.

Mexico is poor hence we shouldn't pay attention to anything they do.

I wasn't referring to the current administration. I was referring to government as a whole, including state and local. I won't extend my opinions on the current administration to the government as a whole, as they will be gone within 2 years (if not sooner).

When did I say anything about economic status? 😕

Well thats what you meant by pointing out the corruption and stuff.

I realize this would be bad for cops though, since you would have much less to do.

And you obviously don't know anything about ours either.

Our governments "war on drugs" has done what exactly? Being that I live in Colorado, and that almost everyone I know smokes, or knows others who smoke marijuana (yes including EVERYBODY I know, ages 16-64) which obviously proves it doesn't work or accomplish anything. It just makes people into criminals, which fills our prisons full of people who don't deserve the 25 years they get.

Reminds me of a study I read in Playboy, rapists spend less time in prison - and get sentenced to a shorter term then people who got busted running 20 lbs of Marijuana across from Canada. Yea, we really have our priorities strait

EDIT: Typo

heroin/coke is bad for you, mmkay?

But going to jail for it is potentially worse for you

Although one could theorize that more proliferation would occur if people could openly hold small amounts... perhaps decriminalization rather than legalization is a potential answer. Mandatory drug treatment etc etc for those caught

No, I meant their government suffers from widespread corruption as a result of YEARS of domination by the PRI.

The impact of the cessation of the war on drugs would have little direct impact on my job.
