You are a fool to believe just legallizing drugs would end the cartel violence.

A few select people control the MAJORITY of the drugs flowing into the US. They are MORE powerful than the governments of South America. They have tens of thousands of police, military and government officials on their payroll. 70% of the police force in Cidudad Juarez was on various cartel payrolls back in 2007.

The reason this current cartel war is going is is the #1 man went down a couple years ago and no everyone wants to be the new #1 man. They will continue their war because of $$$.

Diamonds are legal. They still spark tremendous violence in Africa. This violence has nothing to do with drugs and everything to do with money and control of supply.

The diamond comparison is invalid. Drugs can be cheaply and easily grown anywhere in the world. Naturally formed diamonds are a natural resource that can't be grown.

There will always be something though. They aren't going to legalize all drugs. If anything, they will just legalize marijuana, which might help a little bit, but there will still be plenty of cocaine to be illegally imported.

Do you live in the USA? Here "They" are "We". We just need to stop gobbling down obvious propaganda and fear mongering, look at the actual evidence, and learn something form our past history. We could then change the laws very easily.

insane amount right there... INSANE.

wow, it gets even better

talk about getting it at the source. Shows like DEA, vice cops, and manhunters talk about 1-2 kilos being huge, which is, but man TONS of the stuff is a big deal.

So many people are dying just for others to get high and rich - so senseless. We need to lock up the drug users in the USA once and for all.

No one should be prevented from putting whatever they want to into themselves either. I am for this for MANY more reasons than the FACT that it will ELIMINATE street gangs in the US withing 1 year.

You logic that not legalizing because there are corrupt politicians is flawless...

hahaha, yep this would solve all out gang problems and it would be Utopia!!!!

Its a full proof plan, all the dumb motherfuckers who are in gangs will see the error in their ways and go back to school, become doctors and engineers....there's not a chance in hell they would just find some other harmful way to make money.

Where do you get your "facts" from?

Controversial? I think most people support the fence. A few detractors does not controversy make.

It's decriminalized to some extent in Ohio.

I'd need to have a shit ton of reefer on me to get anything more than a ticket here.

To be more precise, I'd need to have over 200g, to get into felony territory. Less than 100g is a civil citation and a $100 fine.

yeah, it ranges...personally I do not care if anyone smokes pot...as long as it's not near/around me to bug me. But the other 'hardcore' drugs should be/stay banned.

The thing that always had me curious is what IF they do legalize pot/growing/selling(as a licensed seller of course)..what happens to people who are doing time, or did time for it?

Man that'd suck!

Put down the crack pipe, dude. I called for locking up AIG execs as a bonus for bankrupting the company, but I guess you were too busy smoking bud to give a sh*t about looking it up and would rather play an ebadass.

I would hope they would be let out, and their records cleared. But honestly, I doubt that would happen. They'd sit in the can for something that's legal now.

I know lots of people that have gotten clean by being locked up. It does wonders for addicts. You'd be surprised.

He wants all of them locked up. Apparently even in cases where states have, to a large extent, decriminalized the substance in question.

Making the market legal would cause the cartels to collapse because there would be nothing to inflate the costs (and thus fight over). Profit margin will be reduced to a fraction of what it is now and US companies will eagerly fill the supply side of the void.

You honestly think the cartels would go down without a fight. There would be massive blood shed for decades before any collapse of the cartels would happen. Competitors would have to get the product to market.
